Submitting Content Update PDF Print E-mail

Previously to be able to submit content to the site I needed to bump new users up from registered to Author.
In reality I kept on forgetting to do this, so now all new users have the ability to submit content, by automatically getting Author status.

I've implemented a new Content Editor section for all users to use, which you can find under the "Contribute" menu heading.

There is currently a bug in the software; when you hit save when submitting your piece, you are returned to the frontpage with no indication of success.  If you bring up the Content Editor menu option, you'll see a link to the Publishing Queue - this will allow you to see that your article did indeed go through ok.

Here's a brief rundown of the User Levels.

Author - basic status.  Able to submit content, and then edit your own content via the Content Editor menu.
Editor - Also able to edit other peoples submissions, and also gives you access to a restricted part of the forum that gets used from time to time.  If you are a regular user of the site I'll usually give you this permission without you having to ask.
Publisher - Able to publish content straight onto the site, and publish anything waiting in the queue.  We've not used this feature before today.

If you would like to be able to publish content straight onto the site, shout up in the forum and I'll give you the permissions.

Here's a brief reminder of the current areas you can contribute to.....
- Random Image on every page - achieved by adding photos to your gallery found in your personal profile.
- Favourite Logs - Found at the bottom of each page, just copy and paste from gc.com straight into the article editor to keep the same gc.com log format.
- Resources - Useful Bookmarks, How To's, Favourite Caches
- News
- Walks, if you talk to me nicely I'll even add a googlemap to your piece.
- Events, both Geo and Non-Geo.
- Links, to useful websites.
