Eee-Bi-Gum and Err-indoors and I went caching over the new year around Scarborough. Both EBG and downloaded through pocket queries caches in the area
There are lots of great caches and series one of which we attempted - out of the Smugglers Quest Series, we both have Garmin Oregons - EBGs is newer than mine and has more memory but alas the later stages of the multies were missed off
Fortunatley I had printed them off and had full details
So be warned if the cache notes are long winded, check that its enough detail on your GPS if you are paperless- we checked that it occured on other cache downloads and sure enough it did
Happy New Year and the best of luck caching

We all know caching with Kids can be a nightmare, but choose the right type of cache and it can be a rewarding experience.

The Stonefielders have started this bookmark, picked for having any of these features.

  • Short walk
  • Good sized box for swaps
  • Fun activities, or things to spot along the way

For a while now I've been keeping a bookmark of TBs and Geocoins that have been stuck in a cache for an extended period of time.

Well I've just given it a refresh, and there are a few in the Yorkshire and Humber region

Check out the map to see if there is one in a cache near you!

I don’t think of these as the best caches close to home, just the ones that spring to mind when reflecting on my caching trips.  There are plenty of good caches in Ilkley to go at.

This is not a DNF - more of a DNDL (Did not dare look). As we walked through the field of cows, one or two of them were looking very interested in us - not in a nice way.. We then spotted a lady who turned out to be a farmer, on the other side of the wall. "Can you pick your dog up" she said, "and hop over this wall?" We readily agreed as she then went on to tell us not to worry about the bull who was approaching. "The black one's the worst" she said. "that one, there, who's coming towards you"! She then advised us to hurry up as "it was better than getting knocked down, wasn't it". We certainly thought so, as we ran off with Cassiedeog in Peter's arms. It was only after we'd climbed over the stile and got out of the field, that we realised that the cache was 200 feet behind us! The friendly old farmer lady was making her way across the field to have a chat. She asked us what we were doing, and after telling her of our walk, she said "Are you mad?" ...We rather think we are.
