Just to let you know out there that the next in the series is in place and will be published in about 12 days time when I get back from my hols. Sorry if it is just outside the one month rule
Happy hunting

OK, I can now reveal to the Geocaching community the result of the race to 5,000 cache finds.
Everyone by now must be aware that Bob, Russ and Maureen have a £10 wager on who would reach 5000 cache finds first, and speculation has been rife on this and other forums.
I can now tell you, it will be a dead heat... But how can this be...
Well, this is a friendly sport and there are many facets as to how to play it. So Bob, Russ and Maureen have decided to reach 5000 cache finds TOGETHER...
Russ rang me to ask if I would place a cache for the occasion and to mark their special milestone. I was both delighted and honoured to do this, but what cache would be appropriate. A 5x5 difficulty rated cache would not be fitting, so I chose something a bit different.
Bob, Russ and Maureen would be delighted to meet with you all at the cache to witness their milestone in the making and go for a drink and a chat afterwards.
The cache is called Rhubarb - Rhubarb - Rhubarb and will not be published until the three have recorded their JOINT 5000th cache find at the cache, thus giving them joint FTF also. Everyone attending can then log the cache too, before going to the pub.
It was too late to organize a cache meet, so this 'meeting' will not be loggable. The cache will not be placed until the time of the meeting, so do not try finding it beforehand, because it will not be there.
So, please meet in the Car Park in Thornes Park Wakefield at 11am on Saturday 12th June. The coordinates are - N53 40.216 W001 30.586
It will be lots of fun and there are a few surprises in waiting for the trio. One of which is that the £10 bets are now neither won or lost, so I will ask Bob, Russ and Maureen to donate £5 towards the Race for Life Charity in which Flookbird is taking part.
It should all be over in plenty of time for you to go caching in the area or get back home to watch England play football in the World Cup.
See you there... |

The recently published "York City Trails" series by Camera Man has received some attention in the York Press.
The original article (along with interesting comments from muggles) can be found here.
A TREASURE hunt with a difference has come to York’s Bar Walls.
Geocaching involves using Global Positioning Systems (GPS trackers) to find a small “geocache” – about the size of a film cassette.
There are geocaches hidden around the world, from Antarctica to Australia, and Dave Moreland who works in City of York Council’s development and transport team and volunteers his services to manage the Bar Walls information on the official website, has now brought them to the Bar Walls.
Mr Moreland said: “I’ve been Geocaching for a few years now with my wife. “We’ve found over 300 to date in places like America and the Vatican City.”
To become a Geocacher, people should register for free at geocaching.com and find the co-ordinates for York.
They then need to use a GPS device – found on many new mobile phones – to track down the eight geocaches on the Bar Walls. Once they have found the geocache they can log their find in the book stored with the item before replacing the geocache for the next hunter.

In the first weekend in May, Geocachers all across the Globe will be marking the 10th anniversary since Selective Availability was switched off, thus making domestic GPS units accurate to a few metres; which of course soon led to the birth of Geocaching.
Amongst the planned celebrations this year, events held on the 1st or 2nd of May that meet a certain criteria will get a special icon.
Did You Know?
The first ever Event Cache in the UK was held in York on 02/02/02. |
