OK, I can now reveal to the Geocaching community the result of the race to 5,000 cache finds.

Everyone by now must be aware that Bob, Russ and Maureen have a £10 wager on who would reach 5000 cache finds first, and speculation has been rife on this and other forums.

I can now tell you, it will be a dead heat...
But how can this be...

Well, this is a friendly sport and there are many facets as to how to play it. So Bob, Russ and Maureen have decided to reach 5000 cache finds TOGETHER...

Russ rang me to ask if I would place a cache for the occasion and to mark their special milestone.
I was both delighted and honoured to do this, but what cache would be appropriate.
A 5x5 difficulty rated cache would not be fitting, so I chose something a bit different.

Bob, Russ and Maureen would be delighted to meet with you all at the cache to witness their milestone in the making and go for a drink and a chat afterwards.

The cache is called Rhubarb - Rhubarb - Rhubarb and will not be published until the three have recorded their JOINT 5000th cache find at the cache, thus giving them joint FTF also. Everyone attending can then log the cache too, before going to the pub.

It was too late to organize a cache meet, so this 'meeting' will not be loggable. The cache will not be placed until the time of the meeting, so do not try finding it beforehand, because it will not be there.

So, please meet in the Car Park in Thornes Park Wakefield at 11am on Saturday 12th June. The coordinates are - N53 40.216 W001 30.586

It will be lots of fun and there are a few surprises in waiting for the trio. One of which is that the £10 bets are now neither won or lost, so I will ask Bob, Russ and Maureen to donate £5 towards the Race for Life Charity in which Flookbird is taking part.

It should all be over in plenty of time for you to go caching in the area or get back home to watch England play football in the World Cup.

See you there...

It's just gone midnight, you've had a little too much to drink, so what do you do?
Go for a spot of drunken night caching of course!

Quite easy to spot the out of place cache by torchlight, didn't have a pencil, so didn't sign log (and in my state I'm not sure if I would have been capable).
